Edmund Murray, Chief of Legal Services

Appointed in September 2020, Edmund Murray has served in the position of senior counsel to the CCU since March 2019. Before joining the Department of Revenue in 2019, Murray served as a staff attorney in the Civil Division of the Department of the Attorney General as the Legal Counsel to the Consumer Protection Unit, where he represented the Attorney General in hundreds of multistate matters and the State of Rhode Island in civil litigation cases. In this role, Murray initiated litigation on behalf of consumers, conducted intensive legal research, and negotiated settlements amongst other duties. Murray holds a bachelor’s degree from Providence College and a juris doctorate degree from the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University.
