Tax Compliance Day events in May to aid Rhode Island businesses, taxpayers

Tax Compliance Day is an event hosted periodically by the Division of Taxation to give taxpayers an opportunity to seek resolution for your complex Rhode Island and/or federal tax issues in easily accessible locations and at convenient times.

Tax Compliance Day events are intended to help taxpayers access representatives from the IRS, the RI Division of Taxation, and other state and federal agencies, all in the same location at the same time.

New for spring 2025: 

The Division is expanding the Tax Compliance Day event program with new Business Outreach events. These Business Outreach Program Tax Compliance Days bring the convenience of the Tax Compliance Day model to businesses in need of extra assistance.

  • State Small Business Ombudsman, RI Department of Business Regulation
    • Assists small businesses with navigating Rhode Island's regulatory system
      • Help navigating state permitting & licensing processes
      • Assistance with understanding and adhering to laws and regulations
    • The Small Business Ombudsman also acts as a liaison between small businesses & state agencies to resolve issues
  • RI Department of State's Division of Business Services (not available at the Newport event, May 22, 2025)

    • Entity status checks
    • General filing and maintenance information
    • State-level licensing information
    • Reinstatement (entity specific filing requirements and/or filing assistance)
